to the 79th annual meeting of the German Geophysical Society in Braunschweig

We are glad to meet you again at the DGG conference, which returned to Braunschweig after 20 years. We offer room for discussion on any subject regarding geophysics. Student reports on their theses are as much appreciated as outstanding results of large research projects.

Apart from the well-established structure of scientific sessions, we wish to put an emphasis on subjects relevant to our region. The connection between geophysics and space physics, which is traditionally strong in Baunschweig, will be reflected in our focus areas. It includes the exploration of the earth and the near-earth space with magnetic fields, as well as the early history of the earth. The characterisation of radioactive waste disposal sites, an important subject for the Braunschweig region, and the use of geophysics in the field of Geomorphology, will also be given special attention.

In addition to the scientific program, several companies will have the opportunity to present themselves and to participate in discussions with the delegates. We sincerely appreciate the companies’ participation; several opportunities we offer would not have been possible without the sponsoring. Additional events particularly for students and early-career researchers will enrich our programme.

We look forward to seeing you soon in Braunschweig,

Andreas Hördt and the conference team
